Alumni career success report for Constructor Academy

Overview

In today's digital world, coding skills are becoming increasingly essential for achieving career success. Constructor Academy is a coding academy dedicated to preparing and equipping individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge for thriving in the tech industry. In this report, we will examine the career success of alumni from Constructor Academy based on data collected through a recent survey. The survey was distributed to over 200 alumni who completed one of our bootcamps at Constructor Academy between 2016 and 2022, with a response rate of 61 respondents.

Demographic analysis of student attendees

We analyzed the demographic characteristics of the students attending our programs, focusing on variables such as gender, age, education level, and field of study.

While the technology industry is traditionally male dominated, we are pleased to report that approximately 28% of our students are females. The gender distribution within our student population reflects our commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity in the technology field.

Age distribution

The age distribution of our student population ranged from 18 to 55 years old and beyond. The largest group of alumni, comprising 42.4% of the total, were aged between 31-35. Following closely, the second-largest group of students, accounting for 23.7%, fell within the 36-40 age range.

Education level

When examining the education level of our student population, the majority had completed either a master’s degree or equivalent (32.2%) or a Bachelor's degree or equivalent (32.2%). Additionally, 22% of our students have achieved a doctoral or equivalent level of education. The remaining students (13.6%) had completed either upper secondary education or vocational training.

Field of study

The field of study of our students was characterized by a rich diversity, encompassing various disciplines, such as Business and Law, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Social Sciences, and others. Among them, Business and Law emerged as the most studied, representing 30.9% of the respondents, followed by Natural Sciences, at 27.3%, then engineering at 18.2%, and Social Sciences at 12.7%.

The demographic analysis of our student attendees revealed a diverse population in terms of gender, age, education level, and field of study. The findings underline our commitment to fostering inclusivity and diversity in the technology industry.

According to the survey results, the type of program completed by the respondents was evenly divided. Specifically, 49.2% of respondents completed the data science bootcamp, while the remaining 50.8% completed the full-stack bootcamp.

Employment contracts

At Constructor Academy, we recognize the significance of employment contracts in shaping the career success of our graduates. We are pleased to report that the majority of alumni (66.7%) received permanent employment contracts after completing the bootcamp. Additionally, 22% received internship positions, while 7.8 % of respondents obtained temporary contracts. The remainder (2%) opted for freelance roles totaling. These findings underscore the success of Constructor Academy graduates in securing employment and establishing stable positions within the tech industry.

It is important to note that the distribution of employment contract types varied across industries. The highest percentage of permanent contracts was found in the IT sector (9.4%), while the not-for-profit sector had the lowest percentage of permanent contracts (1%).

Results achieved after completing the bootcamp

The study findings reveal that a significant proportion of the participants experienced successful career transitions after completing the bootcamp. Specifically, most respondents either found a new job or pursued further studies to advance their skills further. A minority of participants returned to their previous jobs or chose to work as freelancers. Furthermore, the study indicates that 5 out of 61 respondents are actively seeking a new job since completing the bootcamp. These results strongly suggest that the bootcamp program effectively prepared participants for successful career transitions.

Industry distribution

At Constructor Academy, we understand the importance of providing a well-rounded education that equips individuals for diverse career paths. That's why we are delighted to report that the most common industries employing our alumni are employed are Information Technology (43.5%), Education (6%), and Banking and Finance (7%). This data showcases the effectiveness of the Constructor Academy program in preparing alumni for successful careers across a wide range of industries.

Job titles

The study requested all participants to disclose their job titles, which were then subsequently sorted into groups based on their similarities. Notably, a substantial majority of the titles (24.5%) fell under the category of data science. Following closely behind were Software Engineers, accounting for 18.9% of the titles. Frontend Developer constituted a significant percentage (15%), while 11.3% of participants identified as Full-Stack Developers. Other job titles reported by participants included Data Engineer, Consultant, and Project Manager.

Salary

We recognize that a successful professional trajectory encompasses both job satisfaction and financial security. In this regard, we take great pride in sharing that alumni of Constructor Academy enjoy an average salary of CHF 75,000 per year, with salary ranges spanning from CHF 40,000 to CHF 150,000. The median salary figure varies across industries, with 21.6% of respondents reporting earnings between CHF 80,000 and 90,000, and 15.7% of participants citing a salary range of CHF 70,000 to 80,000. Moreover, 11.8% of our alumni started their careers with an annual salary between CHF 50,000 to 60,000 annually. These statistics illustrate the effectiveness of Constructor Academy's training in equipping its graduates for highly competitive pay in the technology sector. Duration of the job application process

The research findings uncovered valuable information about the duration of the job application process for our alumni. Remarkably, 20.7% of the alumni were able to secure employment within one month after graduation, while nearly 17.2% of the alumni secured employment within three months.

Furthermore, the research findings also indicated that, on average, it took approximately 3.25 months for the alumni to secure employment after completing the bootcamp program. This average duration provides valuable insight into the employment landscape for our alumni, offering an indication of the typical timeframe within which they may find suitable employment opportunities following their completion of our program.

In addition to tracking the duration of employment search, we also gathered data on the number of jobs offers received by Constructor Academy alumni upon completing the bootcamp. The collected data unveils an intriguing finding: on average, 1.7% of our alumni received job offers. This noteworthy statistic highlights the strong demand for Constructor Academy graduates in the job market, who are in high demand and are attractive candidates for employers.
